Sister Cities of Newport News (SCNN) is providing “Homestays” for the weekend of July 18-20 for twenty five college students from the University of Electronics, Science, and Technology of China (UESTC). The students will be visiting Christopher Newport University (CNU) from July 12 to July 26 to a attend a 2-week summer session. During their time at the university, they will attend English classes and special lectures. They will also enjoy visits to scientific and historical sites in the area.

SCNN is seeking individuals and/or families that are interested in hosting a student or two for 2-nights/3-days. Host families need not be Newport News residents. In fact, several hosts are located in the surrounding counties of York, Poquoson and James City as well as the City of Hampton. Students are to be picked up at their CNU dorm on the afternoon of Friday, July 18 (after at 2 pm and before dinner), and should be returned after dinner on Sunday, July 20 (or by 9 pm). The submittal of a host application form is required (see below).

This a great opportunity for your family, children and neighbors to reach out to the broader international community and put a face on the ever shrinking world we live in.

More information is available by calling Kate Helwig, SCNN's Executive Director at 757-926-1348 or at [email protected]. .
