Taizhou History:
7000 Years
Jiangsu region was a cradle of ancient Chinese civilization
Nanjing, the modern provincial capital of Jiangsu,
was one of the four capitals of ancient China. The region's history
predates written records. The Jiangsu region was home to the East
Jin Dynasty, and became center of the Han culture. In ancient times,
the region's name was "Wu."
Taizhou is a modern city created in 1996. The adoption by China of
the Socialist
Market Economy and a commitment to investment and to infrastructure
(transportation, education, utilities) has led to an opening up to
foreign trade and major strides in the region's contribution to the
Gross Domestic Product. Taizhou is now ranked as one of the most highly
developed industrial and commercial cities in the Yangtze Delta.
